Pictures!!!

Kariana enjoying the zoo.

They had the most beautiful birds at the zoo.

The lion kept roaring right in front of us. He was less than 10 feet away and we heard his roar everywhere we went at the zoo.

The road side restarunt we ate at for lunch. We were in a pretty unpopulated area and there wasn't a lot of choice but the food was very good. The boys all had the sausages you see smoking on the grill and I had grilled chicken that was excellent. You can see the food covered by huge leafs.

The huge waterfall south of Bogota. The waterfall produced so much mist that we couldn't see a thing when we first got thee but then the wind shifted and pushed the mist up the valley. The falls were HUGE and very beautiful but the river is so poluted that the whole area just stunk. Our driver said it was the most poluted river in the world.

Kariana and Dad enjoying the coffee plantation. Isn't she such a cutie???

Our guide at the coffee plantation. Notice the green coffee beans on the plant he is holding. They will pick them when they turn red. They get 2 crops a year, a smaller one in April/May and the larger one in Oct/Nov.

Notice all the trees right amoung the coffee plants. They plant citrus and banana trees amoung the coffee plants to inhance the flavor of the coffee beans. They also want the coffee plants covered to avoid direct sunlight but the effect makes it look like an unorganized jungle.

  1. So much fun to see all the pictures!! Kariana is such a little cutie and she is really changing--very fun to see in pictures!
Ugh, those days are hard when families have to split up for a little while during this process! My heart just breaks for you! Hang in there....you have such a great attitude about taking in all you can during your time in Bogota and learning about your daughter's birth country! Keep busy each day and before you know it, you'll be together again!!!
Hope you were able to enjoy the markets again today!
