Our first night

Last night went really well. Although we are pretty sure it was a one time thing, she slept from 8 pm last night until 7 am this morning without waking. She had a huge day yesterday so she was probably just exhausted. She went to the orphanage from her foster family yesterday at 9 am and we met her at 4:15 so she was probably out of her sleep pattern and was just catching up. Kerry and I just wish we had slept as well as she did. We both kept waking up and checking on her expecting her to wake up since the schedule we got for her said she took at bottle at 11 pm and 5 am and she slept right through both. Then after she did finally wake up, it was a good half hour until we fed her and she was perfectly content the whole time. We haven't noticed any more spit up than a normal baby but she did get her acid flux meds this morning so they are either working pretty well or she has a very mild case of it. Its interesting because almost all the children here are on some medication or another so I can't wait to get her checked out at home to see if she really needs to be on the Zantex or not. The hotel is letting us use a baby carrier so she can sleep in it and keep her head elevated. This is also suppose to help with the reflux.

When our boys were babies we would bundle them up tight in a blanket and call them baby burritos (and they still love to do it at times). We did this to Kariana last night and she seemed to really like it. We are calling her our Kariana enchilada.

She seems to really love the boys and they make her smile all the time. She loves to sit up (but needs assistance) and is pretty content most of the time. Hopefully that keeps up!

A couple of notes from the pictures from yesterday. We forgot to mention that Kerry and I were required to put on scrubs when we first met her because she was in the baby nursery although she was in a little room by herself. The boys weren't required to wear them but I loved that they got to meet her first and got to introduce her to us. It really made it a family affair and it was so cute.

You may have also noticed that her hair is shorter now than it was in the original picture we got of her. That is because it is a Colombian tradition to cut girl's hair short when they young because they believe that by cutting it, it will come in thicker. Its an interesting theory because if you look around, the Colombian women really do seem to have beautiful, thick hair so its interesting to wonder if that is because of this cutting tradition or good genetics!

We need to run to the grocery store pretty soon because her schedule says that she is already on solids. Its doesn't say when she started on them but they are in her schedule so we need to go get some. Just a few years ago in the U.S. it was OK to feed babies solids as young as 3 months so although she may seem a little young for solids by U.S. standards now, that seems to be the Colombian way.
